IEMMAThe Iemma family is from Martone.  A male with the surname Iemma took a Y-DNA test for the Calabria DNA Project, to find the origin of this male line.   This participants Y-DNA, which was inherited from his father’s father’s father’s ine way back in time, virtually unchanged from 1000s of years ago, places him overall on branch E1b1b1 (with terminal mutation M35.1)  of the Human Male Family Tree.  To investigate the specific sub-branch of  Haplogroup E1b1b1 his paternal line is on, we would have to test more markers on his Y-DNA.   This would allow us to pinpoint his origins more precisely and more recently.   However, at this time, just by knowing her maternal line is in Haplogroup  E1b1b1,  we can still say that generally his paternal origins are from the Middle East or North Africa.   To see this specific sub-branch, click on the link Human Male Family Tree and go branch E.   Put your cursor over the letter  “E” and an arrow should pop up.  Click on that arrow.  That will take you to the sub-divisions of Branch E and then find the sub-branch with the M35.1 mutation.  You can read more about Haplogroup E and it’s sub-branches here on Wikipedia’s website.
